Group Director of Accounting
Own our accounting operations and build a strong financial foundation for international growth
OMHU is looking for an experienced, hands-on Group Director of Accounting to take ownership of our accounting operations and financial reporting across our group. Today, the group includes companies in Denmark and the US, with Hong Kong and potentially other markets expected to follow as we expand.
You will ensure that our financial numbers are accurate, our monthly closing is reliable and our external accounting partners deliver to the standards we expect. You will work closely with our CFO and colleagues across Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams to strengthen financial controls and make our accounting function more efficient and scalable.
This is not a role for someone who only reviews reports. We are looking for someone who understands the details, takes responsibility for resolving issues and ensures that things get done.
Who are we looking for?
You may already be working in a similar role, leading accounting or financial reporting in an international business. Alternatively, you may come from a senior financial controlling position or an audit background at a leading accounting firm.
What matters most is your accounting expertise, your ability to take ownership and your motivation to build a strong, scalable accounting function across the OMHU group.
You enjoy working in a growing business where processes are continuously developing, and you take ownership rather than waiting for someone else to define the next step.
You bring:
-
Strong accounting and financial reporting experience, gained either in an international business or at an established audit firm.
-
Strong technical accounting skills, including financial reporting, group consolidation, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end closing.
-
Experience working with external bookkeeping providers, auditors and financial advisors, or the motivation to take direct responsibility for these relationships.
-
Experience with group accounting, multiple legal entities, intercompany reconciliations and international financial compliance.
-
Experience with international VAT and indirect tax compliance across multiple markets, including working with external tax advisors.
-
Strong analytical skills and the motivation to move beyond reviewing accounts to owning the numbers, resolving issues and improving accounting operations.
-
A structured, proactive approach with attention to detail and consistent follow-through.
-
The ability to communicate financial matters clearly and collaborate across functions.
-
Fluent English and Danish proficiency at B2 level or higher.
Experience from an international e-commerce or product-based business is an advantage, particularly if you have worked with, revenue recognition, inventory, fulfillment and cost of goods sold.
What will you do?
Your main responsibility is to own accounting across the OMHU group, ensuring accurate, timely and reliable reporting for each legal entity and a clear, consolidated view for the CFO.
You will:
-
Own and continuously improve our monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes.
-
Take responsibility for the quality and completeness of our balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.
-
Manage the day-to-day collaboration with our external bookkeeping and accounting partners, ensuring clear responsibilities, deadlines and quality standards.
-
Ensure correct accounting for revenue, inventory, cost of goods sold, accruals and intercompany transactions.
-
Own consistent accounting policies, intercompany reconciliations and coordinated financial reporting across our Danish and US entities, while preparing the group for additional entities, including Hong Kong.
-
Work with external auditors and advisors on statutory reporting, audits, VAT and compliance.
-
Prepare and review monthly financial reports, investigate variances and explain key developments to the CFO.
-
Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning with reliable financial data and analysis.
-
Strengthen internal controls and establish clear, practical accounting procedures.
-
Identify and implement improvements that reduce manual work, improve accuracy and support continued growth.
You will report directly to our CFO and play a central role in developing our Finance function. You will also have direct people management responsibility for our Office Trainee, providing day-to-day guidance, training and support for their professional development.
What do we offer?
-
A central role in a rapidly growing international Danish furniture brand.
-
Significant ownership of our accounting operations and the opportunity to shape how the function develops.
-
Close collaboration with our CFO and colleagues across the business.
-
An international environment with direct feedback, fast decisions and high expectations.
-
The opportunity to build scalable financial processes and make a visible impact on the business.
-
A competitive salary reflecting your qualifications and experience.
-
Pension, health insurance, a paid lunch arrangement and regular social events.
-
Modern tools, including AI, and the opportunity to improve how Finance works.
